Slide Shifter
Spiral Staff

Before I came to Fort Nightshade I travelled, having many, many adventures. On one adventure I came across a young weasel. She was wandering along the path when I jumped out at her. She turned around with the speed of light and thwacked out at me with her staff. I leapt back grinning. "Well I was only trying to save you for there is a nest of adders ahead!" But the weasel snorted. "Right. Like that is a true story. Now git out of my way and never try and mess wid me again!" As she attempted to leave I rushed in front of her, this time giving her one of my serious looks. "I promise you that there is a nest of adders ahead." But she took no nonsense. She thrust her staff out at me but a parred it off. Angry now she hacked and swung, aiming for my legs but I kept dodging it and with my rapier I stabbed at her shoulder but rapped my paw and knocked it out of my grasp. I lunged forward with my claws and teeth beared but she smacked me in the face, pinning me to the ground. I reached over and flung some sand into her face and kicked outwards, catching her in the chin. She staggered backwards, blood seeping from her face abd fell into a small hole. The nest of the adders. She cried out and her eyes became bloated and when the last breath ended the adder that bit her revealed it's slimy scaly face from under her body. It slithered toward me in grace as I stood paralyzed in the wrath of its eyes. As it brushed around me a tripped on it's body and fell forward. I hit my chin on a rock and snapped out of the trance. Quickly I rolled to the side and grabbed the fallen weasel's staff. But I stopped. two sticks had been neatly spiraled together with no gaps in between. The head of the staff (s) was the two heads of two foxes, both snarling at each other with mysterious eyes. It was my father's staff! I felt a stingig sensation and felt blood. The adder had bit me. Dizzy with the anger and the poisen I lunged at the adder, beheading it. I crawled into a stream and floated down it so the other adders wouldn't find me. And old hermit healed me and I thanked her kindly. I set off down the bank with my father's staff in my paw, searching for more beasts to kill. I also made an adderskin belt out of the snake carcass.
